Pilgrimage to Kham 2015

Across the Rimé Landscape

Pilgrimage to Kham, Eastern Tibet
July 29 — August 15, 2015
[18 Days]

A Cultural & Educational Travel Program Hosted by Jonang Foundation

Travel on pilgrimage to sites of the Rimé renaissance movement, to the heart of Vajrayana Buddhist revival, across the frontiers of the Kham region of eastern Tibet. Sparked in the Dege Kingdom during the latter half of the 19th century, the Rimé renaissance fused artistic, spiritual and intellectual traditions, and gave birth to a highly ecumenical approach to the Buddhist practice lineages in Tibet.
We will explore this Rimé vision of eclecticism and history of this renaissance movement in the footsteps of many of its founding masters including the sites of Jamgon Kongtrul, Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo, Chokyur Lingpa, Dza Patrul Rinpoche and Mipham Gyatso. Amongst the power places that we will make pilgrimage to are Dzogchen Monastery, Pelpung & Tsadra Rinchen Drak, Dzongsar Monastery, Padmasambhava's Pema Shelpuk cave, the 12th century Nyingma Katok Monastery, cultural hub at Litang, the largest monastery in the world at Lerung Gar, headquarters of the Jonang at Dzamthang, and the Buddhist and Bonpo enclave of Ngawa.

**Spaces are limited.**
